Ranger Hat

$330.00

Working with milliner Brookes Boswell, we’re so pleased to offer two exclusive Ranger styles for cool sesaon sunny days. This is a hat that I wear everyday in the garden (even rainy days), and also get asked about walking around NYC. The irregular pinched crown and 3" raw edge brim are the perfect proportions for something that feels modern and effortless. I often travel with this hat and am impressed by how well it holds its shape (even smushed in a bag). A removable split suede drawstring and spring-loaded toggle are perfect for breezy days or keeping your hands free.

Available in responsibly sourced flat fur felt in two colorways: camel-brown ( “Mink”) and darker saturated brown (“Cocoa”) . Please note each hat is made to order in roughly 4 weeks. See below for sizing info.

Born out of the great millinery tradition of New York City, Brookes Boswell Millinery was founded in 2009. Brookes Boswell started her studio after an apprenticeship with one of the city’s longtime milliners. Her background in architectural design, fine art and textiles, give Brookes a keen eye for precision, a love of fine materials and an appreciation for the construction techniques used in the trade. Working directly with Brookes we are proud to offer a selection of hats that combine functional detailing with a classic aesthetic.  Brookes expertly selects all our vintage hats looking for materials that are hardworking and long lasting.  Each hat is gently cleaned, re-blocked if necessary, and given new interior bands.  In addition to the rotating vintage collection, we are thrilled to offer three made-to-order Brookes Boswell designs, engineered with working gals in mind.

Hats are hand blocked in the Portland (Oregon) Studio of Brookes Boswell. Please note: all hats are made to order and are non refundable (store credit available). Also, please allow 4-5 weeks for production.

Sizing:

Ordering a hat from our website starts with a head measurement. Using a flexible tape measure, wrap it around your head where a hat would sit, hitting the middle of your forehead, 1/4” above the ears and the bump on the back of your skull. The tape measure should be snug, but not too tight. The hats are made to fit the head size listed, they should fit snugly so as not to blow off in the wind, but not so tight that they leave a mark on your skin. If your head is between sizes, just send us a note (ella@gamineworkwear.com) and we’ll accommodate your custom size.
